This session is being organised by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s Economic Development Team, with guest speaker from Barclays. The session is aimed at any organisations who wish to learn more about digital technologies that is essential nowadays to run a successful business. The session will cover the following area:
• What is Digital?
What is an online presence? What are online searchers and how connectivity and cyber security works.
• What is the cloud?
An explanation into what the cloud is, the different types of storages in offers and what opportunities it can open up for you.
• What is an API?
An explanation what an API is and how it works. An explanation into how APIs can work with cloud applications.
• How the HMRC have used the technology?
Discussing and referencing the “Making Tax Digital” and how cloud / APIs is the backbone of this.
• How can you benefit from this technology?
Discuss and explain a business’s digital toolkit with some examples given such as apps across finance, marketing, sales and operations. We then go on to explain how these can connect through APIs.
The session will be delivered by Sam Hussain, Digital Engagement Manager at Barclays Business. No prior knowledge is essential.
