This briefing will be themed on #CleanGrowth  – COVID-19 has created a new environment within which we now need to trade. The Southend Business Partnership is commited to working with our partners to Turbo Charge the economy by supporting economic growth in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. Southend-on-Sea Borough Council announced a Climate Emergency last year and is currently finalising plans to tackle this but as a business community we need to identify what this means to us and how can we support this approach.

We already have some fantastic examples of Clean Growth happening in Southend so it will be an opportunity to share some of these ideas so we can all learn from each other. IPECO’s new building has been build to incorporate a number of energy efficient measures while Olympus Keymed has also implemented change. We will have the opportunity to hear from these businesses the process they went through and the benefits they anticipate as a result. In addition, we have invited industry experts including the Carbon Trust to show what can be achieved and the risks of not implementing change.

Southend on Sea Borough Council will explain some of the work they are doing to improve the environment in Southend and will share with us their predictions for the Borough if we so not make the necessary changes.

The LoCASE grants team will be presenting on their 40% grant scheme that can part fund the changes if they reduce carbon output from businesses. They will explain how they work with businesses identify the opportunties and showcase some of the projects they have previously funded and what it has saved the business in terms of carbon and costs, they will also show where investment has led to business growth.

This will be a virtual event and once you have indicated your interest in joining we will send out the link to enable you to join the meeting.

Unfortunately there will not be the normal marketplace but we hope to make the event as engaging as possible with the opportunity to engage with discussion and debate.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.

The Business Briefing will start promptly at 8.30am and finish at 10am. Further updates will be provided and more details from the event are confirmed.
