Employment law has become a minefield with some significant changes occurring over the last few years. From employment tribunal fees being abolished in 2017 (meaning employees can now take you to court for no charge) to the 2020 Good Work Plan. Described as the biggest change to employment law in 20 years with over 50 changes employers must now adhere too. We now have the Coronavirus Act 2020 and further legislation changes that businesses must follow.
With no precedent set in the tribunal system, business owners face uncharted waters in legality terms and have become more vulnerable to legislation. In fact employment tribunal claims against business owners have already increased dramatically due to the pandemic and according to the president of the employment tribunals, are expected to rise even further once the furlough scheme ends.
